        This is correct. Whitt was the best choice given very limited options. The hope was (still is) that Whitt could provide some stability, be a bridge to the next coach, keep the Michigan ethos (dominant OL/DL and run game) intact.         He did groom a successor. Turned out that aside from being a phenomenal OL coach, Moore was also an instagram junkie/compulsive masturbator. Jim is football smart, not people smart.         At least as OL coach, I thought he was damn impressive. He was in over his head as HC, but those offensive lines in ‘21 and ‘22 in particular were a sight to behold. Pretty good in ‘23 too, and in his two years as head coach.* - By Ev September 27, 2026 at 10:42:58 AM

        I don’t think this is accurate. Harbaugh viewed/endorsed Moore as his successor. Moore’s work as OL coach and OC was instrumental in the 40-3 run. Moore was obviously the wrong choice in hindsight, but the idea that Jim stuck us with some bum he didn’t want strikes me as complete bullshit.* - By Ev September 27, 2026 at 10:05:35 AM
