We played everyone in our division on an annual basis, which created traditions and rivalries. The PSU rivalry got really good, as should be the case. The Maryland and Rutgers games were largely a waste of time but at least the UM alums in NYC and DC got a game every other year. Now, it's just a morass. How are new rivalries supposed to develop when you play teams once every few years? It's almost like this structure was thrown together by people who don't understand what makes college football special and who rather are solely interested in TV markets.

And that's before we get to the fact that there are massive inequities in how the schedules play out, such as Penn State's cakewalk this year.
