I was using the lame like lazy, as in those unwilling to walk, rather than the medically disabled

You have some pain in the legs while walking because you live a sedentary lifestyle, you shouldn't get a scooter, come back when you're able to walk around. You're temporarily injured and unable to walk, maybe you should undertake this activity at a different time. You're actually disabled and would be unable to experience this or that without a scooter, sure have a scooter, cut the line, let me know what we can do to help.

More physically demanding activities naturally filter out casual crowds . It reminds me of the era when smoking bars inadvertently kept the Instagram crowd away—the built-in barrier to entry just makes things better.
