I too adjusted behavior because of this board around taking dumps at work

I now only use the handicap accessible stall when the other is full even though I know there are no employees using wheel chairs or walkers. But there are people in handicap spots who, after reading the board, I realized might need that extra space to navigate. It’s a minor change that I hadn’t considered until it came up here.

I also have to enforce parking policy at work for whatever reason. We had people without stickers parking in handicap spaces, daily. I knew a few of them. Overweight but not handicapped. I wrote a policy, made a warning sticker that security placed on their windshields. Problem solved. Sometimes people do need nudges. One woman is severely overweight and I suspect the spot helps her. But she needs to get the placard. That’s why they’re made.

This is all fair and right. What bothers me is citizen policing. Like, you have no fucking idea what is going on in their life. I was happy we were able to fix things in a simple way. Not by shaming. I suspect her weight is causing real issues and I can’t just say, fuck that. I just can’t. Even if 9 of 10 abusers are assholes, that 10th story could be soul crushing. I never, never want to be that guy who made someone roll out a an awful tear filled story. Especially when doing something that has 0.0 impact on my life.
