At the same time, to pick one example, the permitting process to get anything built is fucking insane and adds huge costs to the build. It takes forever and is a nightmare to navigate.

I'm sure Ian could better speak to our fucked up immigration system but the process to come into this country legally, apply for citizenship, and eventually get it is a labrynthine and non-sensical process. The layers and layers of appplications and hearings and time makes it so stupidly cumbersome. For an asylum seeker I'm sure it is even worse.

Defense contracting -- now there's an area where there is no incentive to try and cut costs. Welfare programs for big defense contractors charging the government massive amounts of money that would never fly in selling to the private sector.

On and on. So DOGE went after the Cleveland State of government programs -- USAID. Really important to cut that $8 million program that funded the arts in Kenya or whatever.
