I'm pointing out that, once established, it is difficult to reform or change the system in part because the people running that system are themselves reliant on the complexity and inertia for their livelihoods and resist changes to it.

I don't think this is a particularly controversial statement to make. When the GOP says "government bad" I think there is a reflexive reaction among Dems to day "no, government good!" and any criticism of it is seen as somehow siding with Elon Musk. I am not doing that.
